Sunday nights have become the favorite night of the week again. It's the evening that our family sets aside for a special family time - Daddy reads aloud to all of us. We have done this in the past, but over the summer we got away from it (just like everything else!) I really need to be more intentional about our time in the summer apparently. This fall, Daddy has chosen to read "The Horse and His Boy" from the Chronicles of Narna by C.S. Lewis. After dinner, we light all the candles in the family room and snuggle in for a good hour or so of reading. The little girls enjoy playing with their blocks while they listen. They enjoy these Sunday nights so much that they ask for it during the week too - and those evenings are just as pleasant!
By that time of day, this momma is usually pretty tuckered out, and with the lights down low, the girls being quiet, and hearing my comforting dear hubby's voice I usually drift off for a few minutes here and there.... but my girls hang on his every word and always beg him for "just one more chapter please!!??"
They have set up such intricate dwelling places out of blocks, dollhouse furniture, and their My Little Ponies. They have such fun with them that I didn't have the heart to make them clean it all up. They stayed there on the hearth all week and occupied many, many of their hours this past week.
They enjoyed designing and redesigning their houses. Their little homes were even decorated for fall - notice the acorns?
What are some of your family's favorite together times? I would love to hear some of them!

how precious! and what great quality memories are being made!
What a great idea...that is quite the setup the girls have there!
How cute! And GREAT photos! My kids also love to bring out their toys during read aloud time. We LOVED the Narnia Chronicles - one of our favorite read-alouds.
Great memories being made. Such an important role for a daddy too.
They have quite a set up with their little houses and stuff. Very nice. Read aloud times are so special. Special snuggle times too.
That sounds like such a wonderful way to spend the evenings together!
I love this Heather- I can't wait till my kids are old enough and we can all do the same thing. My most recent favorite family time is when the kids get a bath. Daddy takes them up and gets them in the big bathtub in our room and I sit on the toilet and he sits on the floor and we just watch them play. Sound kind of normal, and un-eventful, but it is so special to me to be able to just take a minute to enjoy them being kids, playing with each other. Last week they were mermen and mermaids swimming around :)
I know you love this tradition and I'm sure it's something the girls will always remember. Their little houses are soooo cute and I love the little details!
A wonderful way to create special memories :). LOVE the girls' house set-up--very creative and fun!
