My dining room looked like this? A homeschool room? Now that our homeschool room is in the basement...
Our dining room looks like this!!
We had planned on starting school this week, but since Punkin doesn't go back until next week, we decided it wouldn't be ideal for one of us to still be in summer mode while the rest of us were starting school. So we are squeezing one last week out of summer! (I love homeschool flexibility). I have decided to use this week to focus on getting my house in order before my focus goes completely to homeschooling. For the first time in our almost 20 years of marriage, we broke down and bought ourselves a real dining room table. The little glass table in the picture above we had bought when we were a family of four, and to be used in our eat-in-kitchen area. We added in a big long island to our kitchen last year, so that took up the table space in the kitchen, which made us move the glass table into the dining room. Needless to say, it did NOT fit our family, especially when we often have other kids over at dinner time too. We had our first family dinner there tonight and it was sooo nice to not be on top of each other! The girls even insisted on making a made-from-scratch dinner by themselves to celebrate our first dinner! They did a great job, minus the bickering and squabbling and the occasional tears, but it tasted great!
On my weekly trip to Target this morning to buy that all essential toilet paper and junk food... I mean healthy food, I stumbled upon this wall art right there just calling my name! Now my decorating friend Theresa has opened my eyes recently to the beauty of these fun rub-on wall decorations. I didn't even know they existed. How perfect for our newly refreshed dining room?? So - she headed over to show me how simple and fun it was to apply this to the wall. When she arrived she had this fun wall rub on as a gift for me!!
And this is another one I found at Target. They are so inexpensive and I love the personal and homey touch they add to our home.
Happy last days of summer! We are about to jump in with both feet into our homeschooling days!!

I am glad you posted a picture of the dinning room table. I couldn't get a good look on the phone, it was too small for my eyes. Looks great. I love the rub ons on the wall. I have seen them and like them. Didn't know Target sold them. May need to go look at them. Would like something to put on the wall when we get our screen enclosure. Would look cool on the back wall. I really like the dinning room. What did you do with the old glass table? Did Hannah do the cooking since she has taken lessons? Tell the girls I love them and miss them.
Nana - We were able to bless someone who really needed a table, so it worked out great. You can see a lot of wall decals at www.uppercaseliving.com That is a great idea to put one out on your pool wall! When is the screen enclosure going up?
Did Hannah do the cooking.... well that's what the bickering and squabbling was about - she tried but you know how those big sisters can be! Working together, always tricky.
your home is looking beautiful and warm! i love it!
The dining room table is exactly your style! I really like the shape of the table too. I especially like the foyer - the fluffy rug too! Reminds me of my very fluffy carpet upstairs, but I digress.... (I hear 70s music every time I walk on it).
The rub-ons are very cool and Wendy's been trying to get me to put some up for a long time. I actually have a Christmas one that I love (yes, they make them for the holidays!). Casey found one today that she begged for - "I'm Not Perfect...but close" :). I laughed and then we chatted about that one.
Did your friend do the curtains in your dining room too? Very pretty. And gee, the wall art in your dining room looks familiar.....:)
The house looks fanastic! Great minds think alike--I have the same quote in my kitchen eating area. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend :) Hugs!
i love those decals... i'd love to get scripture ones!!! do you think they make them?
Hey Erin - Yes - they do make them with scripture! www.uppercaseliving.com has all kinds of them, plus I'm pretty sure you can customize too. I have even found places on etsy.com that will make them custom too.
Karen - I actually did the curtains! Whadya' know? They used to be in there, but just hanging straight. I used the oh-so-functional pony tail holder and just made a pouf thingy.
I love those rub on wall things. I've been tempted a time or two to get one. I still have a lot of wall paper though, so I'll have to see they work on it.
I love your dining room! Everything about it is perfect!
What a beautiful dining room!! So classy and gorgeous, it's very well decorated!!
What a beautiful dining room!!! Love the decals!
Love the new table & decor!
