Easter Egg Craft

This afternoon we got crafty making some Easter Eggs from coffee filters. This idea was inspired by Deb at As We Walk.

First, cut coffee filters into egg shapes.  This sounds simple - maybe it was just me.  It's not easy to cut shapes that resemble eggs.

Next use washable markers to make designs on the eggs.

Then, spray the colored filters with a good amount of water, a fine mist works best - and watch the colors blend together!

....and then repeat.   Because this is a very easy, instantly gratifying craft, and you can't make just one!

more spraying.....

having a chocolate covered donut to munch on is optional.... but helpful....

having chocolate frosting on your face is optional too....

as well as being extremely cute!

and then display on the window!!

Beauty in the Everyday

Sunday afternoon, the sun is streaming through the windows... I find myself looking for some photography inspiration, and decided to delight in the ordinary, the everyday.... the lazy Sunday afternoon....

Brody seems to have no problem with a day of rest.... wish I could do the same....

Punkin enjoys a sunny reading spot...

I love how the afternoon light streaks across my fresh spring quilt....

Bailey tries to figure out what I'm doing....

A peek at my nightstand...... all of these are great reading.  Banana and I are reading through one of the Redwall sequels.... and last night I finished Hand on the Bridle - which was excellent.   The little bird I have had since childhood.

one of my favorite "wall graffitti"

a very, very rare occasion - my clean dresser top, except for the dust

Sunday shoes left behind.....

a very beloved Blueby patiently waiting.......

A very REAL peek at the girls bedrooms.......

See Punkin's toes peeking out from behind her bed? (in mismatched socks)

MOM!! Stop taking pictures of my messy room! AND ME!!  "Then clean it or hide".  Notice that book on the floor?

I love that it is a cherished one and can often be found lying around.....  if you have a daughter - it's a must have.

and a peek outside.....

it's hard being the littlest....

A Rainbow Of My Own

Today I saw a rainbow.  It was so beautiful that I wanted to catch it for my very own.  I put on my raincoat and hat and ran outdoors.  Fast as the wind I ran.

But when I came to where the rainbow should have been, it wasn't there.  I thought, maybe some rainy day a rainbow will come and stay a while.  I'll be walking along slowly, and suddenly I'll hear a soft whirring sound like the wings of a bird.  I'll look around and see A RAINBOW FOLLOWING ME!

I'll know by the way it circles and whirls it wants to play.  So I'll hop over my rainbow and my rainbow will leap over me.  I'll climb up one side and slide down the other.  My rainbow will make a peacock fan for me to walk in front of and a hammock for me to swing in.

We'll play a game of hide-and-go-seek.  I'll shut my eyes and count to twenty, and then look all around.  If I were a rainbow, where would I hide? In a flower garden, of course! Rows of flowers look like a rainbow.

Suddenly the sun came out again from behind the rain clouds,

and my pretend rainbow disappeared the way real rainbows do.

But when I came back home, I saw something glowing inside the window of my room,

and when I ran indoors, there was a rainbow dancing on the wall!

The sun was shining through the water in my goldfish bowl, and it made a rainbow just for me -

a rainbow of my very own!
