A FLORIDA FOURTH OF JULY

Um, yeah, it was really HOT!

My Dad setting up his own fireworks show - His shows are so good, he should start charging admission!!! :)

We had a great 4th of July in Florida. We were able to visit my hometown which is such a classic small town. If you have ever seen the movie "Sweet Home Alabama", thats EXACTLY what it's like to go back home and visit! Only there can you see a confederate soldier riding a bull, being escorted by a goose, a duck and sock-wearing dog - leading the 4th of July parade!! No, I'm not kidding. Small towns have the best Independence Day celebrations!! My sister Karen and I ran into several old friends from childhood and high school. And yes, they still live there in the little one red light town (oh excuse me, two red-light town now!!). There is certainly something to be said for staying your whole life in one place. Though I can't imagine still living there now. It's certainly fun to visit, much like going back in time. It always amazes me how quickly my southern accent comes back. As soon as I hear it, it just kicks right back in. There is no suppressing it!! Like the movie says "You can take the girl out of the honky-tonk, but you can't take the honkey-tonk out of the girl." And I'm proud of it.
Okay, here is an update - this picture is from my sister's blog - here is the proof of the bull, the duck and the goose!!

Emily, Matthew and I still talk about the 4th we got to spend with you in Keystone. It really was straight out of a movie. It's so neat that towns like that are still around and really great that your girls can still get a taste of where Mom and Dad grew up!!! Looks like fun was had by all!!
