MONDAYS

Yesterday was one of those Mondays. You wake up on a Monday morning after a beautiful weather-weekend, to a cold damp and dreary day outside. The temperature hovered right at 50 degrees all day - with a bleak steady drizzle all day long. It was a day to turn on the fireplace (I love to be able to just flip that switch.) Turning on the fireplace for the first time of the season is always an event for the girls. It's a sign that Autumn has certainly arrived. We had a lazy, cozy morning in the front of the fireplace drinking coffee and hot chocolate and enjoying some stories read aloud. One of the things I LOVE about homeschooling is the freedom we have to do things different. (I've mentioned how I like change.)

Banana snuggled on the couch with the dogs and her books for her schoolwork.

Boo and I worked at the dining room table - it was a nice change of pace. I don't think we even stepped foot in the school room at all!

After Punkin came home from school we had some fun with art. If you ever want some inspiring art ideas to do with your kids - you MUST check out this website!! Deep Space Sparkle. We did her lesson on primary and secondary colors while painting fish - and how to add value and texture while painting the water.

Punkin fulfilled her big sisterly role (that of taking charge) and snuck in a few swipes of Banana's paintbrush - Banana was very kind about it! :)

Nice smile Banana.

While Boo finished up her rainy day painting. I love how the Mommy and Daddy fish are the primary colors - and then they had babies. It was fun for Boo to figure out which Mommy and Daddy fish belonged to which baby!!

Looks like a nice, relaxing day at home! Mondays are always stay home days for us as well - love staying in my comfy clothes! ;)

Looks fun and cozy, but I am NOT ready for cold weather. It was below 50 degrees here early this morning when I got up and that is cold to me. I love fall, but I don't want it to get any colder. I have all the windows open. THAT is my favorite weather. Are your leaves turning yet? We were early for them in NC. THey were just starting but it was still beautiful and the apples YUMMY.

Good way to spend a drizzly Monday. We had that kind of weather for 2 weeks - it was gross! We are in the 2nd week of gorgeous fall weather, so I guess it's a trade off for those gloomy rainy days. I'll have to check out the art link.

I wish I had known something about homeschooling when my kids were little. From what i have seen, I think I would have really loved it.
