The String Art II Kit - A Timberdoodle Review

The next Timberdoodle product up for review is the String Art Kit II - which is "A super easy way to make string art. The kit includes foam canvases, pins, and pre-printed patterns for a rocket, planet, and a star."

The kit comes with dense foam pads that you can adhere a piece of card stock onto the back of so that your pins don't go through. The pad is printed with these tiny faint white dots that you push the pins into. So much easier than the way we did it back in the 70s with wood, velvet, nails and a hammer! This is MUCH easier on the fingers! :)  The best part is you can sit down and with just a bit of time complete this project in just one sitting. The way we did string art long ago was much more time consuming.

The kit states ages 10 and up and I think that is a great guideline.  While it is a pretty easy activity, my 11-year-old and even the 17-year-old were getting frustrated with the string easily slipping off the pins.  It definitely takes a bit of fine motor skills (and patience) and would be great if you are looking for something to fine tune those skills!

Once all the pins are in place, the fun part of stringing begins! The pins stayed in very nicely in the foam and we never had any issue with them coming out.

The String Art Kit is part of Timberdoodle's 6th Grade Curriculum Kit. You can also purchase it separately by clicking HERE.

This company makes awesome craft kits. I love the glittery thread in this one!
