Punkin worked for quite a while on this project throughout the fall. It was a special Christmas gift for her little sister Boo. The pink "knobby" looking fabric was the same fabric that her favorite baby blanket was made out of. Punkin had already made her a pillowcase out of this fabric, and then she started working on this quilt. She did a great job!
Her Nana helped her add some embroidery touches while we were visiting in FL at Thanksgiving.
Since Boo has been sick, we had to skip sewing class yesterday. We all worked together on their sewing project at home instead.
We have been anxiously awaiting the package that finally arrived yesterday - some learn to read books for Boo. She is enjoying them already - she amazes me at how quickly she learns.
And yesterday, I finally did a HUGE clean out of our learning rooms. It was sad to take out most of the high school friendly items.... (she returns to school in one more week) - but it was VERY fun to redesign our space to make it more Kindergarten friendly!!
I was able to condense a lot of items that we have already used up through the year, and take out a few shelves to make better use of our limited space.
Boo has a better set-up now for doing her daily work.
And a lot more things more readily available to her now.
I love how the sun pours in during the morning hours.
I just had to share this heart-wrenching drawing Boo made for the whole family last night. While I was busy re-organizing - she was asking repeatedly for me to play Candy Land with her. I try so hard to take advantage of those times when she wants her Mommy, because before I know it her daddy will be walking her down the aisle and I would give anything to play Candy Land with her just one more time. But..... I didn't. And, neither did Dad (American Idol was on..... ahem), and apparently neither sister would give in to her requests either. I tried to distract her by setting out some markers and paper for her to try to entertain herself instead. This is her sad, sad drawing - a picture of her heart crying with drooping flowers all around. I don't think I will ever pass up another opportunity to play Candy Land again...... EVER!!

That was such a sad drawing by Boo. I hope she is feeling better. Love it that my grands like to sew. I am going to like to sew again to one day. Sewing used to be such pleasure and I trust it will be again one day. Happy that I can be a part of their sewing via the sewing machines. I love your learning rooms. So happy and cheerful. I can't believe Dick & Jane are still around. That is how I learned to read. Is Spot the dog still alive? My he must be 60 years old...at least.
awwwwwww, poor Emily! And that was SO sweet of Kirsten... i didnt even know she was doing that. I LOVED the BOB books, those were the books that i first started reading- they are some of my earliest memorys of childhood :)

Maddie - I'm shocked that you never saw her working on the quilt!!
Nana - I had to search and search for the Dick and Jane books. I know they are soooooo old! But I am in love with all things "classical". And Dick and Jane is certainly a classic!! I guess that means that you are a classic too! :)
Emily's picture was so cute. It almost made me cry.
I love the word classic instead of old. I like being classic:)
