My Little Rock Stars

Banana and Boo's best buddy/neighbor had her birthday party today - the theme - Dress Like a Rock Star!!  At first we had no idea how to go about dressing that way, but somehow we managed to pull some things together...


Miss Boo REALLY got into this role...


Yep, that would  be her gum falling out of her mouth - there's an action shot for you - who taught this kid how to act like she is in the band KISS?






Ummm.... they are scaring me just a little bit.....

Coloring

I love noticing the little details of the everyday ordinary.  I was reminded today to take pleasure in the ordinary, because everything is a gift from God. Every thing, every breath, every moment.


Boo was coloring today and I just soaked in every detail of these fleeting moments.












I overheard her yesterday talking to her Grandma on the phone about how very excited she is to attend Kindergarten in the fall.


She said "You know Gaga....


the only reason I am going to Kindergarten....


is to learn how to ......


SIT STILL....." 

Happy Mothers Day 2011

Happy Mother's Day to all of my mothers....  my mom, my stepmom, my grandma and my mother-in-law.


I am so blessed to have so many wonderful motherly role models in my life.  My mom raised five children (here are just three of us).  Thank you mom for showing us the most important things in life and for raising us in a Christ-centered home.


The mother of the love of my life..... thank you so much Nana for raising my man.   He is the best husband and father we could ask for.  Nana is a wonderful example of what a mother and grandmother should be - I love hearing everything she has to say. I hope to grow as wise as she is when I have grandchildren.


My Grandma - my mothers mother.  I love her so much, she always has so much love to share with her grandchildren.


And my stepmother - she took on the role of instant mother to three little girls long ago.  She instilled in me the gift of creativity.  

Thank you to all of my mothers for the blessing you are in our lives!

Remembering My Happy Place...

Jamestown and Yorktown

On the second day of our overnight field trip we visited the Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown.


Nothing can make history come alive more than being in those places and experiencing some of the same things the people of the past did.








At Yorktown, we did a tour called the "Day in the Life of a Soldier".


They learned how to march in formation and take commands, and even how to load and fire their weapons - which was so much fun to watch!




Can you hear them all screaming "BOOM!!!!" ??


Six soldiers slept in a tent this size....


We even learned how punishments were handled.....


There was soooooo much more that the kids experienced, I could make an entire photo album.  It's safe to say that we were all sufficiently worn OUT after two days of experiencing history, but the memories and things they learned will last a lifetime.

Bel Air Lacrosse

Banana is playing lacrosse this spring - it's a great sport for her.  It's rather new to me, so it's been fun to watch her play and learn the game myself.
