Gift from God

I typically don't share my clients on this blog, normally you can see them HERE - but this is a special one.  This is a friend of ours who just adopted this precious little guy last week.  I was finishing up editing his pictures today and I just wanted to share them with you!

While I was working on his pictures today, I was listening to an interview with Angie Smith from Bring the Rain.   It just struck me the preciousness of life that is given to us.   If you haven't read Todd and Angie Smith's story, you will be captivated by their unwavering faith.    This little guy has Down's Syndrome and was given up at birth - just like that.  His birth parents didn't want him, he wasn't good enough, he was imperfect in their eyes.  Such a stark contrast to the story of Todd and Angie Smith, who made every minute of their precious baby girl's life stand for something - something huge, even though she only lived for two hours.

I just cried and cried as I edited the pictures of this precious baby - adopted into a family who accepts him and loves him, and wants him.   I don't think there are any parents anywhere who want this baby as much as his parents do.

Look how proud big brother is!     This baby was designed by God for a reason - he has a PURPOSE!! It may not be convenient for his new parents, it will most likely be very hard, but they are ready to take whatever God gives them.  He gave them this baby.

His parents have founded Grafted Families - Grafted Families was started by a group of families who are passionate about God's call to care for the fatherless. They are a community of adoptive and foster parents, people exploring adoption, and people passionate about caring for orphans.  His dad has a band called Orphan Project - they are just some really awesome people!!

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  Jeremiah 29:11

  1. oh my heavens, that is so sad that his birth parents would do that. I cannot imagine. However I am sure it's for the best and he is now accepted into and loved by his new sweet family.

  2. Such a precious little boy. Thankfully God had a loving family waiting for him. I can't imagine what kind of parent would give up their own child just because in their eyes he wasn't perfect. SO sad. Thankful that he has a loving family.

  4. I felt anger and joy while reading this story. I can't help but wonder, was she planning on giving him up for adoption all along, or did she decide that after finding out that he didn't meet her expectations? The Lord definitely has a plan for this BEAUTIFUL little boy and blessings in store for his family.

  5. Karen - I know - I feel the same thing, but overwhelmed with gratitude for all the adoptive parents out there who are changing the world, one child at a time. He birth parents didn't know he had Down's until he was born.
