SPRING IN DC - PART ONE - NATIONAL CATHEDRAL

What an absolutely beautiful day!! The weather was simply gorgeous. My friend and I decided to take the girls for a day in DC - our first stop was the National Cathedral. There are no words to describe this place ....

The stained glass windows in this building are unbelievable!! The girls spotted this light on the floor that was shining through one of the stained glass windows - I love the light that fell on them! (check out Banana's face as she looked straight up at the sun through the window!)

We were able to sit and listen to an organ demonstration - it was something I will never forget. Hearing the sound of the organ filling the National Cathedral as the sun poured through the stained glass, during Holy Week, as we thought about all the many great men and women who have been inside that building.

We went up to the observation deck in the cathedral to see the view of DC from one of the highest points in the city. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

SPRING IN DC - PART TWO - THE BISHOPS GARDEN

After our time in the cathedral, we had a picnic lunch in the Bishops garden. The views of the cathedral were stunning from here, as well as all of the beautiful cherry blossoms and flowers.

We finally hit the right timing with the cherry trees at the peak of blooming - aren't they gorgeous??

Can you read what the license plates say all put together???

Banana found Nathaniel Bowditch in the National Portrait Gallery!! We just finished up a biography on him. Visiting DC really makes history come alive. She said "He doesn't look like I thought he would".

It was a good day.

SPRING IS POPPING UP EVERYWHERE!

This week is Spring Break - yay!! It's so nice to have a break from school and just be at home (ha - that sounds funny coming from a homeschooler). I have been busily spring cleaning the house - it feels so good to get good and clean as well as purge so many things that we don't need. The girls and I enjoyed this fun craft this morning - it looks just like the tree in our backyard bursting into bloom!!

The puppies were waiting for any popcorn that might fall to the floor!
